Wam!Net sells commercial biz

The network design firm says that the sale of a related commercial business will not affect the company's federal operations.

Wam!Net Government Services Inc. said today that the sale of a related commercial business will not affect the company's federal operations.

Wam!Net, a network design and management firm, is selling its commercial business to Savvis Communications Corp. The federal business is not included in the sale, said Michael Barbee, president of Wam!Net Government.

"The divestiture of the commercial assets allows Wam!Net Government Services to focus on its core capabilities for federal civilian and defense agencies and for the state and local market," Barbee said in a statement.

The company is a subcontractor to EDS on the Navy Marine Corps Intranet project, and to Computer Sciences Corp. on the National Security Administration's Groundbreaker contract.
