Sprint gets another Air Force contract

Defense Department officials have awarded Sprint its fourth contract for telecommunications management at Air Force bases in southwest Asia, bringing the total value for Sprint to more than $14 million.

The contracts cover the day-to-day operation of tactical communications systems. The latest one, the fourth in seven months, is for one year.

Tony D'Agata, vice president and general manager for Sprint's Government Systems Division in Herndon, Va., said the latest contract win shows DOD's trust in Sprint.

"We've worked closely with the USAF to implement reliable solutions to help them save money and allow them to deploy troops and communications personnel to support more pressing military operations, and they've obviously seen the benefit of our efforts," he said, in a statement.
