Qwest's new voice-over-IP service will become available to federal agencies later this year.
Qwest Communications International Inc. has launched a new voice-over-IP service that will become available to federal agencies later this year. Qwest has been strategically implementing voice-over-IP technology in its nationwide and local networks for the past two years, according to a company spokeswoman. The new service, called Qwest OneFlex, will become available in specified geographic areas starting next month, according to company officials.
Using OneFlex, customers use one connection for local and long-distance voice, and high-speed Internet access. It will be available for business and residential users as well as agencies, according to officials.
OneFlex first will be available in Boise, Denver, Minneapolis and Phoenix. After that it will become available in 22 more cities, including Washington, D.C.
