Air Force awards messaging, human resources deals
Xacta and Citrix won contracts to provide instant messaging and HR technology.
Xacta Corp. and Citrix Systems Inc. received Air Force contracts to provide instant messaging and human resource information technology solutions.
Officials at Xacta announced today they received a $6.8 million Air Force contract to deploy the Automated Message Handling System (AMHS) at the service's major command headquarters in Europe and Asia. The system will use the company's enterprise messaging solution to replace the Defense Messaging System, according to an Oct. 5 Xacta statement.
The company's AMHS solution will immediately route incoming messages to the right desktop computer and create an archive of all arriving traffic for future reference. "AMHS is specifically designed to meet the messaging demands of organizations like the Air Force, providing them with precise control over the large volume of information they must handle on a daily basis," said Frank Whitehead, Xacta's program director for enterprise messaging solutions, in the statement.
Officials at Citrix announced Oct. 4 that Air Force officials chose the company's MetaFrame Presentation Server and the MetaFrame Password Manager to globally access the Military Personnel Data System (MilPDS), the service's primary human resources system.
Officials at the Air Force Personnel Center purchased licenses to support 4,200 users. After officials at Citrix complete the installation, it will provide secure, easy and instant access to more than 1.7 million personnel files for 12,500 personnel specialists supporting Air Force operations in 180 locations worldwide, according to an Oct. 4 Citrix statement.
"By simplifying and increasing access to MilPDS, fewer Air Force resources will be required to execute behind-the-line administrative actions," said Mark Goldman, area vice president for Citrix Federal Government Systems, in the statement. Across the entire Air Force, that means fewer people will be required for personnel support, making more troops available to directly support front-line operations."
