Air Force wants net-centric projects

Air Force officials want ideas on how they can better create a network-centric environment for personnel servicewide.

They want industry officials to submit net-centricity technology projects focusing on prototypes, empirical research, test beds and proof-of-concept demonstrations in four areas:

* Air Force Enterprise Services.

* Air Force Command and Control Enterprise Reference Architecture.

* Net-Centric Enterprise Solutions for Interoperability.

* Community of Interest Services focused on Joint and Combined Air and Space Operations.

"It is intended that programs under the broad agency announcement include research and technology base development in the areas of net-centric architectures and enterprise or community of interest integrated infrastructure," according to the service's Enterprise Service and Applications Broad Agency Announcement issued Dec. 18 on the Federal Business Opportunities Web site.

Air Force officials released plans in August to develop a common set of information technology services available to service personnel via the Web. They include collaboration, messaging, user assistance, Web search/discovery, enterprise storage, enterprise application hosting, enterprise services management, information assurance security, and mediation or sharing of data among old and new systems and among military and industry personnel.
