Betis, CDW land Air Force work

Officials at CDW Government (CDW-G) announced earlier this week that they will work with Betis Group to provide hardware, software and information technology services to the Air Force’s Air Education and Training Command.

Betis received a 10-year blanket-purchase agreement (BPA) contract with no financial ceiling from the Air Force command located at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. The small business, located in Arlington, Va., will provide support services while CDW-G will offer hardware, software and network components, said CDW-G officials in a March 21 statement.

Betis group participates in CDW-G’s Small Business Partner Consortium, which was established in 2003 to help small businesses win federal, state and local IT contracts using the reseller’s e-commerce, service and distribution capabilities.

“It gives us the opportunity to amplify our expertise and strong customer focus with best-in-class technology, as well as the best e-commerce and operational infrastructure in the market,” said Hernan Cortes, president of Betis Group.

The Air Force work marks CDW-G’s second participation in a BPA with the military in two months. The company received a one-year deal with the Army last month to provide wireless devices from Cingular Wireless, T-Mobile and Research In Motion, said CDW-G officials in a Feb. 28 statement.

“Beyond supplying the BlackBerry devices, we also provide guidance to the Army on the best way to equip them with an additional layer of security,” said Max Peterson, vice president of federal sales at CDW-G, explaining that the devices will come with smart card readers from APRIVA and Infinite Peripherals.
