DLA uses Qwest for data center

Qwest Communications International has won its first Defense Logistics Agency contract, company officials announced today. The company will provide hosting services for DLA's Enterprise Data Center program, providing redundancy and security for the agency.

Under the 10-year contract, Qwest will provide infrastructure support services and connectivity at three of the company's CyberCenters. Hewlett-Packard, the prime contractor, will supply remote management and monitoring. DLA officials will move servers and other infrastructure components into the CyberCenters.

“This is Qwest’s first opportunity to work with DLA,” said James Payne, senior vice president of Qwest's government services division. “This is a trend we’re seeing in government as more and more agencies turn to outside sources for their hosting needs."

Financial terms were not disclosed.
