GSA extends AT&T contract

AT&T Government Solutions has won an extension of its FTS crossover contract by 22 months, allowing agencies to continue to purchase the company's service through the contract until Feb. 26, 2009.

The General Services Administration approved the modification that became effective June 1.

"This is great news for agencies who want the option of extending by almost two years the services they receive from AT&T Government Solutions," said Lou Addeo, president of AT&T Government Solutions, in a written statement. "We'll be able to continue to offer our portfolio of services at very competitive prices and we believe many agencies will be interested."

Carriers who hold Metropolitan Area Access contracts can cross over to the broader FTS 2001 contract by expanding their capabilities. Sprint and MCI are the original FTS 2001 contract holders.

FTS 2001 will eventually be replaced by the new Networx contract, which GSA officials will award in April 2006.
