AT&T picks Networx team

AT&T Government Solutions has announced the makeup of the team it has assembled to bid on Networx, a 10-year multiple-award vehicle designed to fulfill agencies' next-generation telecommunications and network services needs.

If AT&T gets a place on the Networx contract, it will bring:

* Cingular Wireless

* EDS

* Global Crossing

* GTSI

* Northrop Grumman Information Technology

* SRA International

AT&T is preparing bids for both Networx Universal, which requires vendors to offer a full range of network and communications services, and Networx Enterprise, which offers a narrower set of services covering smaller geographical areas.

The combined contracts could be worth up to $20 billion.

"This is an all-star team of proven and trusted government IT vendors," said Lou Addeo, president of AT&T Government Solutions, in a written statement. "I can't imagine a stronger group of companies to deliver the IT services that agencies need today."

Addeo said the team has the track record and resources to help agencies move to "the converged IP world of the future."

General Services Administration officials plan to award the Networx contracts in April 2006.
