Pacific Air Forces upgrades network

Pacific Air Forces, one of the nine major Air Force commands, will build a new network so the command’s facilities in the region can better receive voice, video and data information.

Apptis announced Nov. 3 that it will work with The Centech Group on the Air Force’s “First 400 Feet” program. The initiative will install new cabling, electronics and wireless technologies including infrared, radio frequency and free-space optics, according to a company statement.

Apptis will assess Pacific Air Forces' information technology infrastructure and design and install the new technologies. The five-year contract is worth as much as $100 million and the service awarded it under its Network Centric Solutions contract called NetCents.
