Avaya, AT&T join for VOIP migration
The alliance combines AT&T's global IP network and network design expertise with Avaya's enterprise IP communications technology.
AT&T and Avaya have created a strategic alliance to offer services to government agencies and businesses as they move their telecommunications services to voice-over-IP technology.
According to the companies, the alliance combines AT&T's global IP network and network design expertise with Avaya's enterprise IP communications technology, delivering managed solutions for customers. The team arrangement gives customers a single point of contact for almost all aspects of the migration effort, from the initial design to ongoing network maintenance.
“Interoperability is one of the biggest challenges facing businesses and government agencies today as they plan their migration to VOIP and IP telephony," said Eric Shepcaro, AT&T’s vice president of business strategy and development, in a prepared statement. "This alliance addresses that challenge, ensuring that regardless of where enterprises are in this migration, their traditional voice networks will interoperate with their IP-based voice network and equipment."
AT&T and Avaya have integrated their technologies so that they can manage a customers' entire IP telephony infrastructure, according to the companies.
