AT&T government head steps down

Lou Addeo has stepped down as president of AT&T Government Solutions and will be replaced by Don Herring. Addeo is retiring after a 33-year career with the telecommunications giant, according to a company statement.

Herring has been with AT&T for about 20 years, serving as a vice president in the government division running the professional services operation. Most recently, he was part of the executive team planning the integration of AT&T and SBC, which merged in 2005. Herring has also served as mid-Atlantic vice president for AT&T Business Services.

Addeo, also a former vice president in the Government Solutions business unit, was promoted to president in 2003.

"Don is a terrific leader with great business instincts and I know he will continue the momentum that Lou started,” said Chris Rooney, senior vice president of sales at AT&T, in a prepared statement. “Lou put this division on a path toward growth and we greatly appreciate his contributions. He has been a tremendous strategist who recognized and exploited our ability to combine both networking and professional services to serve government agencies."

Addeo will step down and Herring will take the reins March 1.
