AT&T wins defense contracts
The company will conduct a local-area network upgrade for the Army and Air Force Exchange Services under a three-year, $4.8 million contract.
AT&T Government Solutions recently won two contracts with military branches, the company announced today.
The company will conduct a local-area network upgrade for the Army and Air Force Exchange Services under a three-year, $4.8 million contract. AAFES is a joint organization that provides products and services to members of the Army and the Air Force.
The LAN upgrades will address AAFES' requirements for headquarters, disaster recovery and call center operations.
“Disaster recovery is a critical need of all government agencies,” said Don Herring, president of AT&T Government Solutions, in a statement. “This contract is an opportunity for AT&T to apply our network-enabled solutions capabilities and expertise in disaster recovery to the AAFES LAN upgrade.”
The company also got a nine-month order worth up to $3 million to manage a program to supply and install spare Nortel Networks equipment for existing communications networks on Air Force bases. The order came through the Network Centric Solutions contract.
