Black Box partners with Nortel
NextiraOne Federal, doing business as Black Box Network Services, is now the largest independent reseller of Nortel communications gear.
Recent contract wins have made NextiraOne Federal, now doing business as Black Box Network Services, the largest independent reseller of Nortel Networks communications gear.
Most recently, NextiraOne Federal captured one of 10 contracts under the Army’s Infrastructure Modernization (IMOD) program, a $4 billion effort to upgrade Army bases’ telecommunications infrastructure. NextiraOne Federal is working with Nortel Government Solutions on that deal, which was awarded April 28. Before that award, the companies combined to win the Long-Term Life Cycle Support contract, which is currently under protest. That pact will let Defense Department sites obtain support for Nortel’s electronic digital telephone switch systems, according to Input.
On the heels of those awards, Black Box completed the acquisition of the U.S. commercial and government operations of NextiraOne April 30. Black Box has rebranded NextiraOne Federal as Black Box Network Services.
The recast Black Box Network Services is now Nortel Government Solutions’ largest federal reseller and Nortel’s largest independent reseller, Nortel officials said.
Michael Strange, channel sales manager at Nortel Government Solutions, said the IMOD contract provides a platform through which Black Box Network Services may offer Nortel’s entire product portfolio. He added that IMOD will also provide the means for the Army to transition to voice-over-IP communication.
IMOD replaces the Digital Switched Systems Modernization Program.
