VA orders Microsoft products through veteran-owned reseller
The contract awarded to MicroTech is worth as much as $365 million.
The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded MicroTech a contract worth as much as $365 million over six years for Microsoft products and services. The company, a service-disabled veteran-owned small business, said the contract is the largest yet for such a firm.
The contract is worth $56 million in the first year with five one-year options.
The contract is part of a VA transformation process intended to improve the agency's ability to provide services to veterans, according to MicroTech's announcement.
The contract gives the VA an enterprise license for a broad range of Microsoft business software and support services. The VA’s two previous Microsoft enterprise agreements were through large business resellers.
By law, agencies are supposed to spend 3 percent of their contracting dollars with small firms owned by veterans disabled while in the military.
