GSA seeks Nextel sources

The General Services Administration is searching for sources of cellular service under a contract it awarded to Nextel in 2002.

GSA published a notice on the Federal Business Opportunities Web site July 5 stating that while it believes the needed services are available from only one source, it is seeking others. The contract provides digital wireless enhanced specialized mobile radio equipment and services.

Interested sources must be able to provide:

• Integrated Digital Enhanced Network-based digital cellular service.
• Two-way digital radio service.
• Interagency two-way radio interoperability.
• Local, regional and national two-way radio coverage.
• Voice mail, text messaging, numeric paging and caller identification.
• Mobile office e-mail.
• PBX integration and redundancy, and disaster recovery.
• Fraud protection and digital call privacy.
• Web-enabled account and inventory management.

Contractors who believe they can fulfill the requirements have 30 days from the notice date to contact the GSA contracting officer managing the contract.
