GSA wants telecom expense management providers
The agency is surveying the market as part of a strategic sourcing initiative.
Notice: Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative for Wireless
The General Services Administration is looking for potential providers of telecommunications expense management for wireless products and services. In a July 17 notice posted to the Federal Business Opportunities Web site, the agency outlines its needs.
The notice is only for preliminary research and cautions vendors that it is neither a solicitation nor a guarantee that any solicitation will be forthcoming.
The information is necessary as part of the Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative, jointly launched by GSA and the Treasury Department in November 2005. Strategic sourcing refers to a variety of techniques used to harness the needs of multiple agencies and make procurement more efficient.
A wireless commodity team within the initiative is trying to establish a common procurement vehicle through which all government agencies can purchase and use wireless services. The team seeks to lower the total costs associated with wireless and use business intelligence to provide better overall support for decisions and performance management.
