Adobe releases e-learning creation software

Adobe Systems announced the release of Adobe Captivate 2, a software suite that can generate interactive content for training and e-learning. The software is based on Macromedia Flash technology.

“Software solutions that enable training professionals to provide rich learning experiences are a critical component to increase business productivity,” said Naresh Gupta, senior vice president for print and classic publishing at Adobe.

Captivate allows users to create interactive simulations and scenario-based training programs that can have editable mouse movements and descriptions as well as scoring and feedback. Programs are publishable as Shockwave/Flash or executable files, and other non-interactive training can be translated into MP3 files. The software is also Section 508-compliant.

Captivate was originally developed by eHelp, which Macromedia acquired in 2003. The software became Adobe's property after the company purchased Macromedia last year.
