Command Information launches federal division

Command Information has created Command Federal, a new division that will provide services based on the government’s network-centric needs. The company specializes in training and other services related to IPv6, and it hosted an opening ceremony last week for an IPv6 training and development center in Herndon, Va.

David Kriegman, former chief operating officer at SRA International, will lead the federal division as its president.

“David has nearly three decades of experience providing information technology services to federal government customers," said Tom Patterson, Command Information’s chief executive officer. "His background will help to cement Command’s leadership in the IPv6 space serving the federal government."

The company got financial backing from the Paladin Capital Group’s Homeland Security Fund, a new investor. It also got funds from the Carlyle Group and Novak Biddle Venture Partners, which were already investors.

"The federal government faces important challenges as it moves toward the 2008 mandated transition to IPv6," said Charles Rossotti, senior adviser at Carlyle, in a written statement. "This second round of investment provides Command additional resources to build the leading position in helping the government make this critical transition."

“We recognize IPv6 as a growing market with huge potential commercially and for trusted internet operations in the 21st century,” said Kenneth Minihan, a managing director at Paladin and former director of the National Security Agency, in a statement. “Command Information’s geographic proximity to government decision-makers and the immense talent they have assembled, including David Kriegman, makes the company a natural leader in the space.”
