FinCEN names CIO

The Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network selected Edward Dorris as CIO and associate director of FinCEN’s Information and Technology Division.<@SM>

The Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network selected Edward Dorris as CIO and associate director of FinCEN’s Information and Technology Division, effective early next month.Dorris will oversee the technical infrastructure that supports the management of Bank Secrecy Act data at FinCEN to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. Dorris currently serves as deputy CIO for the Housing and Urban Development Department. While at HUD, he led the department’s business transformation and IT modernization initiatives and aligned technology with strategic business objectives. He has also worked on significant IT projects at the Transportation and Treasury departments. Dorris has experience in IT program management, enterprise architecture, systems integration, capital planning and execution over his 25 years of IT experience in the public and private sectors.“Mr. Dorris will bring to his work at FinCEN an excellent combination of technical expertise, people skills and extensive organizational management experience,” said FinCEN director Robert Werner in a statement.Dorris received his bachelor’s degree from American University in Washington.
