Pennsylvania picks webMethods for network support

Pennsylvania has picked webMethods products to support its Justice Network (JNET), a nine-year-old statewide project. The state will use webMethods' Fabric suite as the foundation of a comprehensive service-oriented architecture, according to a company announcement.

The latest effort seeks to improve real-time access to information and enhance collaboration among law enforcement agencies.

"Our constituents are routinely called upon with minimal notice to make some of the most critical decisions imaginable," said Phil Tomassini, executive director of the project, in a written statement. "What the Pennsylvania Justice Network provides is the information and resources needed to make the right decision."

Developing the SOA will reduce or eliminate the remaining barriers to effective collaboration, he said.

"Nearly every government agency is confronted with the need to eliminate application silos, automate processes and secure greater operational visibility," said Tammy Janorske, director of webMethods' government business unit. "What the Pennsylvania Justice Network demonstrates is how these objectives can be achieved at the state and local level.”
