GSA launches site to sell surplus assets
GovSales.gov cataloges surplus assets for sale to the public.
The public can now buy surplus, seized and forfeited assets at Govsales.gov, a new General Services Administration offering.
GovSales.gov is part of the Federal Asset Sales E-Government Initiative, which is one of the President Bush’s Electronic Government Initiatives. GSA launched the site Oct. 3.
The site allows the public to search listings of surplus and forfeited property for sale by the government. The items include luxury items such as furs and jewelry, and major assets such as automobiles and homes, according to GSA. The site’s single-point access helps the public find and buy goods easily, and the online convenience provides shopping options that span across multiple national and regional federal sales centers, according to GSA.
