Va. county to host Israeli security technology conference

The Fairfax County, Va., Economic Development Authority and the Israeli Export and International Cooperation Institute have announced a three-day advanced security technology conference. The event will be held Jan. 16-18 at the Center for Innovative Technology in Herndon, Va.The United States-Israel Technologies Conference will bring together U.S. technology firms, government contractors, federal officials and venture capitalists, and 17 of Israel’s leading homeland security technology companies, the authority said in an announcement. The free conference is open to all interested technology companies.The conference will cover topics such as technologies needed to prevent weapons of mass destruction, information companies should know before entering the U.S. security market and the investment climate in Israel.The event is being sponsored by the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C.; the Northern Virginia Technology Council; the Virginia Economic Development Partnership; and the Virginia Israel Advisory Board.Four more Israeli companies established offices in Fairfax County or expanded existing facilities in the fall of 2006, raising the number of Israeli companies in the county to 20.The authority maintains permanent offices in Tel Aviv, Israel; Silicon Valley, Calif.; Bangalore, India; Frankfurt, Germany; Seoul, South Korea; and London.
