Letter: AtHoc not a de facto alert platform for military

I am writing you regarding your wonderful article ["Smart phones, smart leadership"].

In that article, Guy Miasnik, CEO of Athoc, Inc. states:

At DOD, AtHoc is the de facto standard for such capabilities for the Navy and Air Force, Miasnik said. As many as 400,000 employees in each of those services is covered by AtHoc's unified notification system, he said.

Nothing could be further from the truth. This statement is reckless and misinforms our military personnel and all readers of the article that AtHoc's alert platform is a "de facto" alert platform for the Navy and Air Force.

Our company is AtHoc's main competitor in this space. We have numerous sales to the U.S. Military worldwide including iconic institutions such as The United States Military Academy at West Point and The United States Air Force Academy.

We have spoken to high ranking military officials who have corroborated our view that "Athoc is not a de facto" implementation for these military organizations.

Such misinformation needs to be corrected.
