Also In the News: Congress gets its own YouTube channel
Members of Congress recognize new ways to send out their message.
Congress launched official YouTube channels this week where members of
the House and Senate can post videos of floor speeches, hearings or
ribbon-cuttings, according to news reports.
On YouTube, members of Congress can create and control their videos on a House hub and a Senate hub, which help YouTube users find their representatives via a Google Map, the Washington Post reported today.
YouTube,
owned by Google, which has a growing presence in Washington, has hosted
“YouTube 101” sessions with congressional staff members, many in their
20s and quite familiar with the site. In some instances, young,
Web-savvy staffers are the ones pushing their bosses to get online,
according to the report.
