NASA to capture inaugural parade on Twitter, rover webcam

NASA will provide the public with several different views of today's inaugural activities, including one through the NASA News Twitter feed and another through a lunar rover.

NASA will record video during the parade from a camera mounted on a lunar rover. In addition, NASA photographers and videographers will document the agency's participation in the inauguration and post images on the agency’s Web site.

Astronaut Mike Gernhardt will drive the rover in the parade, accompanied by astronaut Rex Walheim wearing a spacesuit. The Lunar Electric Rover is a concept vehicle about the size of a pickup truck that NASA is evaluating for use when people return to the moon. The vehicle can move its six pairs of wheels in any combination of forward and sideways motions.

NASA Television will air a video file of the parade footage and the video recorded by the rover as soon as possible following the parade's conclusion, according to NASA.
