NASA wins two awards for sites

NASA’s primary Web site and its Cassini mission Web site have won Webby awards from the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, NASA officials have announced.

NASA's primary site won the People's Voice award for best government Web site, and the site for NASA's Cassini mission won the award for the best science site, according to an announcement made May 6.

NASA's primary site also won the People’s Voice award in 2003.

"The [Cassini] site houses all the latest news, science findings and images Cassini returns as it orbits Saturn,” said Alice Wessen, manager of Cassini public engagement at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. “The public can see every picture within eight hours after it's beamed down from the spacecraft."

The academy has 550 members composed of Web experts, business figures and creative celebrities, according to academy officials.
