DISA wins awards for two Web sites
The Defense Information Systems Agency has won the Web Marketing Association’s 2009 WebAwards for the best military Web site and the best government Web site.
The Defense Information Systems Agency won the Web Marketing Association’s (WMA) 2009 WebAwards for the best military Web site and the best government Web site, the association has announced.
Government and industry organizations from 47 countries competed for the awards, which were organized into 96 categories, WMA officials said. Three or more judges evaluated each site from a target-user perspective, WMA officials said.
The DISA.mil site won the Best Military Web site award, WMA officials announced Sept. 16. DISA’s Base Realignment and Closure portal won the “Best Government Web Site” award.
DISA.mil's primary audiences are the military services and other defense agencies, mission-related industry partners, and job-seekers, according to DISA. The site serves approximately 21,000 visitors a week.
DISA’s BRAC portal is an information source for agency employees, their families, and for those living and working in the Fort Meade, Md. region, DISA officials said. DISA will move to Fort Meade starting in 2010 under the Base Realignment and Closure Act of 2005.
The Army Recruiting Command won a Military Standard of Excellence award for its Partnership for Youth Success Reconnecting America with the Army Web site, according to WMA.
