Federal 100: Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Sorenson

Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Sorenson
Chief Information Officer
Army

As the brainpower behind one of the Army’s most significant transformations, Sorenson conceptualized, developed and executed the Global Network Enterprise Construct, the Army’s portion of the Global Information Grid.

He reshaped the Army’s existing network by collapsing its former information technology enterprise into five network service centers in combatant command areas to provide timely, accurate data and network capabilities to even the most remote military outposts.

"Lt. Gen. Sorenson went above and beyond in his support for deployed Marine forces by encouraging their use of the Army’s fixed regional hub nodes in the theater, giving them quick access to portal interfaces through [capabilities] for voice, video and data access," said Maj. Gen. George Allen, director of command, control, communications and computers for the Marine Corps.
