Obama names his pick for U.S. public printer
The public printer leads the Government Printing Office, which has moved to its Federal Digital System to send out information.
Bill Boarman is President Barack Obama’s pick to become the public printer of the United States and head of the Government Printing Office. Boarman must be confirmed by the Senate to assume the post.
GPO is in charge of publishing and distributing official and authentic government publications to Congress, federal agencies and depository libraries, and the public.

Currently, Boarman is president of the Printing, Publishing and Media Workers Sector of the Communications Workers of America and the union’s senior vice president. In 1974, he accepted an appointment as a journeyman printer at GPO, but he took a leave of absence from the agency in 1977 for elected union positions.
Bob Tapella is the current U.S. public printer, the 25th since 1876.
