Federal 100: Ted Davies
Ted Davies
President, Federal Systems
Unisys
Ted Davies understands that the most successful IT companies balance the demand to develop good technology with their need to develop good talent.
In 2010, Davies embraced the government’s cloud-first program and led Unisys in developing a suite of secure cloud solutions. In partnership with Google, Unisys won the first enterprisewide cloud-based software-as-a-service contract — for e-mail and collaboration tools at the General Services Administration. The program is expected to result in a 50 percent cost savings over five years.
But he also remains a tireless advocate of putting people first. Last year, he formed two groups at Unisys: the People Initiatives Board, which seeks to foster an employee-focused environment at the company, and U-Give, which raises funds for disaster relief efforts worldwide and collects food donations for local homeless shelters, among other activities.
