USAJobs drops offline due to hardware problems
The USAJobs website went offline, experiencing hardware difficulties, on Nov. 1
Entering its fourth week of operation, the USAJobs website was offline in late afternoon on Nov. 1 and reported to be experiencing "hardware difficulties."
A bulletin on the federal job search website asked users to try again later.
Office of Personnel Management officials tweeted about the problem around 5 p.m, saying that some users were experiencing "intermittent access problems." OPM said in the Twitter message that engineers were on-site addressing the problems.
The problem is the latest in a long line affecting the 3.0 version of USAJobs that launched on Oct. 11. The system has experienced numerous malfunctions in operation since that time. Thousands of users have reported problems with accessibility, search and data loss on the site.
OPM officials have issued a number of progress reports, and recently have said that the site had stabilized.
"USAJOBS 3.0 is continuing to see success, and the most recent testing by OPM shows that the site remains stable and secure, and its capacity is at full strength," the agency said in a statement on Oct. 31.
