WHAT: A redesign of MilitaryOneSource.mil, an online information resource for service members and their families.

WHY: The youngest military enlistees were born in 1997, and they've grown up with digital access embedded in their lives. As a recent request for information notes, smartphones and social media participation are the norm among U.S. adults, and this includes the 85 percent of the military under the age of 35. The Military OneSource website, which provides a community hub with guidance on military life, help navigating the health care system, and tax advice, is a little old-school for today's connected millennial fighter.

To stay current, the site is looking for a new approach to connect service members and families with Department of Defense services and information. A recent request for information seeks ideas on technical refresh for the site, new thinking on how to deliver programs and services via web-based technology, and ideas on engaging the community of users to encourage frequent visits. The job is partly technical, but includes design and marketing elements as well.
