GSA plans one-stop shop for Salesforce
Aiming to centralize government-wide professional services procurement for Salesforce support, the General Services Administration is launching a new, six-business-strong contract vehicle.
The General Services Administration announced a new contract vehicle: the Salesforce Implementation, Integration, and Support Services Blanket Purchase Agreement.
Meant to centralize and streamline $503 million in IT Schedule 70 awards over five years, the BPA aims to bring all Salesforce-related professional services from development to implementation under one roof, GSA said in a Dec. 22 announcement.
The contractors included on the BPA: Accenture, Acumen, Capgemini, Deloitte, PhaseOne and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
By standardizing Salesforce service procurement and supporting agencies' reuse of other agencies' solutions and applications, the BPA plays into the requirements of the Federal IT Acquisition Reform Act, GSA officials said.
"The Salesforce BPA is a significant step forward in supporting FITARA, our customers, and improving acquisition efficiency and effectiveness in the federal government," said Federal Acquisition Service Commissioner Tom Sharpe. "This unique, first-of-its-kind, cross-agency initiative will reduce the number of duplicative contracts for these services and lower overall costs by leveraging the buying power of the government into a consolidated services vehicle."
The Salesforce BPA comes as GSA wrestles with how to support the feds' ever-growing cloud service procurement needs. GSA's Cloud Computing Services Program Management Office projects that the federal government's cloud services business volume will top $2.2 billion in fiscal 2017.
