Video: Are You Addicted to Your Smartphone?
Just try putting it down.
On a given day, most people will check their smartphone 85 times and spend a total of 5 hours on the device.
Most people use their phones in short bursts, frequently interrupting their work. This negatively affects productivity, as it can take employees roughly 20 minutes to get back to the task at hand. An estimated 28 percent of the workday is spent on social media.
But the American Psychological Association estimates only 6 percent of the global population is actually addicted to the Internet or their smartphone. Though some studies have placed that number higher.
So, what's the lesson? You should probably put your phone down and get back to work, if you can.
