Video: Google's Hands Free App Lets Your Leave Your Wallet, Smartphone at Home

A new payment method that could be even more convenient than Apple Pay.
Mobile payment apps like Apple Pay and Samsung Pay are promising to revolutionize the way we shop. But what if we could spend our hard-earned money without lifting a finger? Google's new app "Hands Free" promises to achieve just that.
Separate from Android Pay, the app uses Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and location services to determine where you are. Before going out shopping, users have to log in with a Google account, add a picture of themselves and input a debit or credit card.
Once at the cash register, ask the cashier to pay with Google and then provide your initials. The cashier can confirm that you match your photo and presto! The payment is made.
Some question, however, if this payment method is secure.
Google has said the app never shares full credit card numbers with stores and all payment details are stored securely and shared only with the payment processor.
If you're interested, the Hands Free app is available in a limited trial in the San Francisco area.
