GSA seeks IT exec to help with enterprise cloud
GSA wants an expert executive to help it with cloud and other transformational IT infrastructure efforts.
If you know your way around the cloud and understand how it can fuel enterprise infrastructure, the General Services Administration wants to hear from you.
The agency is looking for an associate CIO for enterprise infrastructure and operations, the position once held by GSA CIO David Shive.
The job listing states that GSA wants to maintain its reputation as a federal cloud innovation leader and notes that it was first federal agency to move its email system to the cloud. The goal is to bring in a proven innovator accomplished in implementing other enterprise business solutions.
"Come run GSA's IT infrastructure! Keep our agency's tech strategy pointed toward the future," tweeted Mary Davie, assistant commissioner of GSA's Office of Integrated Technology Services, on July 27.
The new hire will be responsible for creating and implementing IT infrastructure strategy for the agency, including data centers, networks, server services, storage, service monitoring, user support, help desk and related software. He or she will also direct strategy and implementation of internal and customer-facing services and the networking, hardware and software platforms that support them.
In addition, the position will involve developing future IT plans, including testing and evaluating IT models and looking for opportunities to use commercial solutions, and taking the lead on infrastructure-as-a-service efforts, including managing IT resources that can be adjusted on demand.
The Senior Executive Service position has a salary range of $123,175 to $177,120. GSA is accepting applications until Aug. 1.
