Video: How to Navigate With Google Maps Hands Free
Keep your eyes on the road while you use voice recognition.
With law enforcement coming up with new ways to catch you texting and driving, it's more important than ever to keep both hands on the wheel. But what if you need to navigate using your smartphone? Swiping your way through Google Maps while driving is just as much of a distraction and safety hazard as texting.
Luckily, Google Maps features a voice-activation feature. In the app's settings, tap "Navigation Settings," then "OK Google Detection," then turn on the "While driving" switch. After that, while in the app, start commands by saying "OK Google" and navigate any and everywhere you want to.
Unfortunately for iPhone users, this feature only works with Android devices.
