Video: Simple Ways to Protect Your Privacy
Keep your emails and your texts to yourself.
Digital communications are fast, easy and not particularly secure. Emails, chats and texts can be intercepted, downloaded and posted publicly. But anyone squeamish about privacy has a variety of options to better protect conversations.
To start, WhatsApp is preferable to other messaging apps, because of its use of end-to-end encryption. But if you want to go a step further, download Signal, which has the same level of encryption but also boasts disappearing messages.
ProtonMail, based in Switzerland, offers a more private alternative to Gmail. It also has end-to-end encryption and doesn't log your IP address, which keeps you anonymous.
But keep in mind, nothing is every perfectly secure.
