Video: This Tech Could Charge Your Phone Fully in 5 Minutes
Qualcomm is saving everyone's battery life.
As smartphones become more powerful and increasingly integrated into our lives, battery life remains a primary concern for most users, as seen in the number of portable chargers that exist on the market and the number of people fighting over the corner wall outlet in your local cafe.
Qualcomm has developed its new Quick Charge 4 technology to combat this problem. The company says 5 minutes of charging equate to 5 hours of battery life, and device makers can incorporate the technology into their gadgets starting next year.
How does the phone stop from overheating and exploding? Quick Charge 4 maintains an equilibrium between the speedy charging and the temperature of the phone, and will slow things down if things start to smoke.
However, overheating protections will be required inside the charger as well to ensure your phone is truly safe.
