Big box retailers like Best Buy, Staples and GameStop offer in-store recycling, while the Apple store has robots specifically designed for recycling smartphones and reusing the materials.
Hoping to make a buck off your gear? Online mega-retailer Amazon offers financial incentives for trading in old devices: Users get a gift card to buy even more goodies.
Wireless carriers Verizon and AT&T also offer account credit for devices, and if you don't want to even lift a finger, eBay offers a valet service to list your device for you.
And before you do anything, make sure to back up all your data, then wipe it from the device.
