How to Make Your iPad Kid-Proof

Handing a child a mobile device without any planning can be disastrous for your privacy and potentially your wallet. It was only after a lengthy court battle Amazon refunded customers $70 million worth of app purchases mistakenly made by children.

For iPad users, parental controls have been built directly into iOS. Users should go to Settings, then General, then Restrictions and hit "Enable restrictions." From there, users will have to enter a four-digit PIN, different from the PIN used to enter the device.

Then, users can adjust privacy settings, determine what kind of content can be accessed, decide which apps can be downloaded and most importantly, disable in-app purchases.

While you're making these adjustments, maybe put a protective case on your device for good measure.
