Take a Bite Out of Android Oreo
A new operating system should be all about the filling.
The title of the latest Android operating system is here, and it sounds like it would be delicious dunked in a glass of milk. Google timed the announcement of the name Oreo to coincide with Monday's solar eclipse at an event held in New York City.
But more important than the name, is what will change in this new operating system. Google is making big promises like a much faster speed and better battery life. The tech giant has also placed an emphasis on security, with the Google Play Protect feature built in and including tighter controls for installing apps.
There are plenty of smaller changes as well. The new picture in picture feature could let users do things like check their calendar without leaving the text message they're drafting.
The operating system will also feature an improved copy and paste function as well as a revamped notifications system. And for those expressive texters, there's a whole new catalog of emojis.
The operating system will roll out sometime before the end of 2017.
