FBI Issues Timeline for $5 Billion IT Contract Solicitation

The bureau’s ITSSS contract has gone through a lot of changes recently but officials expect to have the draft and final RFPs out early next year.
The FBI announced an early 2019 timeline for the solicitation of its $5 billion, enterprisewide IT products and services contract.
In an update on FedBizOpps Monday, the bureau announced its intention for a Jan. 11 release of the draft request for proposals for the Information Technology Supplies and Support Services contract, also known as ITSSS or IT Triple-S.
The contract will include six tracks, for each of which the FBI plans to award 15 to 22 spots, for a potential total of 90 to 132 awards. Each track will include 10 to 15 large businesses and five to seven small businesses.
In October, the bureau announced a change in acquisition strategy, ditching creation of a new contract vehicle and instead deciding to buy off the General Services Administration’s IT Schedule 70. In their decision, contracting officers cited Technology Business Management principles—a framework for linking IT procurements to mission outcomes that is required under the President’s Management Agenda.
Once the draft RFP is out, vendors will have one week—until Jan. 18—to submit questions on the document. If all remains on schedule, contracting officers expect to release the final RFP by Feb. 1.
