National Weather Service names CIO
Shukri Wakid is the first chief information officer at the National Weather Service, the agency announced Thursday
Shukri Wakid earlier this month became the first chief information officer
at the National Weather Service, the agency announced Thursday.
As CIO, Wakid oversees computer security, standards, information technology
policy and planning at the agency.
Most recently, Wakid was CIO at the National Institute of Standards and
Technology. He also has headed the NIST Information Technology Laboratory,
where he managed IT services and research programs ranging from computer
security to high-performance systems.
