The Redmond, Wash., Police Department has chosen software that will allow
police to quickly post information on an intranet without assistance from
information technology staff.
The intranet will replace a system where information was first mailed
or distributed by hand and then posted on a bulletin board. The information
would be later converted manually into HTML for the intranet.
Xpedio Content Publisher, from IntraNet Solutions Inc., automatically
converts documents, files or pictures submitted by officers and administrators.
The documents are then immediately published on the intranet, where field
officers can access the files using a laptop computer and a wireless connection.
The system also can be used to post information on the Internet.
