Security champion leaving government

Richard Guida, longtime champion of security within federal agencies, will

be leaving government at the end of the year to move to the private sector.

Guida served in government for 28 years, most recently as security champion

on the Government Information Technology Services Board and chairman of

the Federal Public Key Infrastructure Steering Committee, based at the Treasury

Department.

This year, he won a Federal 100 award from Federal Computer Week for his

work to help develop and implement PKI solutions for agencies trying to

secure the services they are moving to the World Wide Web.

Having started out in the armed services, Guida said he is looking to the

private sector for his next job. A replacement on the steering committee

should be named by the end of the summer, he said.
