ProcureNet wins Hammer Award

ProcureNet was honored for developing an integrated supply program designed to streamline procurement and enhance service at a Defense supply center

ProcureNet Inc., a provider of end-to-end electronic procurement solutions

for government agencies, recently became the first private company to receive

Vice President Al Gore's Hammer Award.

The Hammer Award, created by Gore's National Partnership for Reinventing

Government (NPR), generally is presented to teams of federal employees and

citizens who have made significant contributions in support of government

reform.

ProcureNet received the award for developing an integrated supply program

designed to streamline procurement, improve efficiency and enhance service

as part of the maintenance, repairs and operations Prime Vendor program

team at the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia, General and Industrial Directorate.

As a result of the program, the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort, S.C.,

and the Beaufort Naval Hospital were able to reduce inventory by more than

50 percent, lower supply procedure costs and improve online delivery rate

in all locations, said Reuven Battat, president and chief executive officer

of ProcureNet, which is based in Great River, N.Y.

"Most people think of government as being way, way behind, but they're doing

their best to get ahead and we want to keep them ahead," Battat said. "In

this area, the government is way ahead of the commercial market and is saving

taxpayers money."

In addition to its extensive customer base within the Defense Department,

ProcureNet's government clients also include the departments of State, Agriculture,

Energy; Transportation; the U.S. Postal Service; the Coast Guard; Riverside

County, Calif.; and San Diego.

Despite the large number and wide variety of its public-sector customers,

the company boasts a 100 percent renewal rate on its government contracts.

"We're not just a software, marketplace or content provider," said Ken Farber,

senior vice president of business development. "We take technology, take

the marketplace, content and logistics and fulfillment, everything from

requisition to check processing — we'll take the risk."

ProcureNet added another federal customer last week. The company announced

that the Defense Supply Center, Columbus, Ohio (DSCC), had awarded it the

first three option years of its Automotive Prime Vendor Overseas contract.

DSCC is the world's largest supplier of weapons system spare parts and end

items and will continue to use ProcureNet's technology to supply parts to

military locations worldwide.
