The General Services Administration announced Tuesday the appointment of

a new chief technology officer who will assist in developing and enforcing

information technology policies across the agency.

As CTO, Christopher Fornecker will be part of the office of the GSA

chief information officer.

In addition to helping form agencywide IT policies, Fornecker will lead

GSA's technology purchases, monitor projects and examine emerging technologies

that could be used to enhance the agency's performance, according to a statement

from Michael Carleton, GSA's chief information officer.

Fornecker previously served at the Defense Department as assistant deputy

undersecretary of Defense for advanced systems and concepts.
