Treasury official in transition

Not all federal workers are affected by the political aspects of presidential transition, but some still are playing their own game of musical chairs.

The Interagency Management Council officially placed Thomas Wiesner at the head of its table for the upcoming year. The IMC is made up of representatives from cabinet agencies and advises the General Services Administration on telecommunications issues.

Wiesner, the Treasury Department's director of the Office of Corporate Systems Management, replaces Robert Bubniak, acting chief information officer at the Department of Veterans Affairs, who was chairman of the IMC for two years during the transition to FTS 2001.

Later this year, Wiesner will try out another chair. As part of the reorganization of Treasury's CIO office, Wiesner will become director of, security—which means he'll tackle not only information security but also physical and personnel security.
